My Dance Page Newsletter
March 2024
*We have started preparing for our recital, learning, growing and working together as a group. We have so much fun and we all look forward to the “Big Day”. Here is some information as we look ahead to “Our 22nd Annual Dance Recital”.
*Also, as we are preparing for the recital, attendance is very important. Children need to be in class in order to learn placement & choreography because it affects everyone. We work together and depend on each other as a group. It helps to come and watch instead of not attending at all (unless you are sick). And we do appreciate a cal, text or email to let us know if you are going to be out.
*Our “22nd Annual Dance Recital” is confirmed for Friday, June 14 at 7pm. The location is Lifehouse Church in Hagerstown, MD. Save the date!
*Dress rehearsals are June 12 and June 13 from 5-8pm. Beginners, Advanced Beginners and Acro ONLY come to rehearsal June 12. If you are in the leveled ballet classes and ONLY take ballet, you also solely come to the June 12 rehearsal. Everyone else attends both rehearsal nights. Parents need to stay with their children for the rehearsal nights. Dressing rooms will be available, but there will be no dance staff to supervise the areas. More information will be discussed at the Recital Meeting. Check the Recital Board in the lobby periodically to stay informed.
*The Recital Meeting is on Tuesday, March 19. This meeting is to provide information & answer questions especially for new dance parents. We will discuss everything involved during the “recital season”. The meeting will begin at 8:00pm and last 45 minutes to an hour. We strongly urge new parents to attend, but all are welcome.
*Recital Fees are due by Saturday, March 23. This is $65.00/family and covers the cost of auditorium rental, lighting & sound techs, and any other costs that are involved with the performance.
*During the week of March 6-11, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for recital tights. If in doubt…size up! Everyone will receive one pair of tights at no extra cost. If you want, we can order your tights for jazz/tap/acro or extra ballet tights. Extra tights are $10 each. All orders (even for the free pair) & payment must be received by March 25th.
*Picture Weekend is set for Friday & Saturday, May 3 & 4. We will be sending out a schedule as soon as we can so you will know when your dancer needs to be at the studio with their class. There will be no regular dance classes held on these dates. Light make-up is optional for photos. NO NAIL POLISH is allowed. If you choose to wear nail polish, you will not be in the group photos. You will only be permitted to do individual photos.
As always, we appreciate your continued support and if you have questions, please feel free to call or text us at 301-824-3444. You can also check the website for more information and email us at mydancestudio1@gmail.com

Thank you for your help in the “Giving Tree Donations”! We were able to provide gifts for senior friends at Fahrney-Keedy. By working together, we spread a little holiday cheer to others. My Dance Page - November-December 2023
The holiday season rapidly approaches! It can be a really busy time for all of us. Stop and take a moment for a breath of gratitude and joy. We wish everyone a blessed holiday season filled with peace and love!
This newsletter has activities & events for 2 months. Don’t forget to come in and check the bulletin board/calendar periodically for updates and important information. Also, “My Dance Page” along with other updates are posted on our website at: www.mydancestudio1.com
-Remember to follow the Dress Code. When we are prepared, we are confident. When we look the part, we dance the part! Buns are required for Ballet 1 and levels beyond. It takes time away from class for teachers to help students pull their hair back and it’s not fair to the dancers that are prepared.
-Nutcracker season begins in December. This is a tradition at “My Dance Studio”. The dancers have a great time as we learn about this holiday ballet classic utilizing videos & music, choreography & props and variations of the story. All classes take on a seasonal flair for this festive time of year.
-The “Giving Tree” to help senior citizens at Fahrney-Keedy Retirement & Assisted Living will be up after Thanksgiving Break. We do this instead of gifts for the teachers (please). Here’s how it works – pick up a gift tag and bag from the tree in the lobby and return it with the item(s) written on the tag. The gift bags need to be returned no later than Saturday, Dec 9th, so that we can get them to the center on schedule. Please help us to help others during this season of giving!
-Looking ahead, we will be measuring for costumes during November and December. We know it seems early, but we order in the middle of December to receive costumes in a timely fashion. The cost for recital costumes is $70.00/costume.
-If you have any questions feel free to call/text/email us. We will respond as quickly as possible.

My Dance Page - October 2023
As we begin a new month, we are moving forward with our dance curriculum and settling into our classes. If you want to see our curriculum, it is available in the lobby in the red binder. Also, everyone is showing real enthusiasm and working very hard. Here are a few things to note:
*Dress Code (proper dress, shoes and hair) is a steadfast rule for all to follow and is part of the discipline of dance. It makes a difference in the children’s attitude and as they see themselves in the mirror. We can see them become more confident and prepared to dance.
*Dance Apparel- Order forms will be available later this month.
*Staying healthy-Please continue to be vigilant as we move into the cold/flu season. Thank you to our families for being so careful about keeping dancers at home that may be contagious with a virus.
*Take It Leave It- Our bins with shoes and clothing are being moved from the lobby. If you need something, just ask and we can get the bins back out for you.
*Costumes- This month there will be costumes hanging in the lobby. Please feel free to take one or two as a Halloween costume or as fun dress up clothes for home.
*Lost and Found- We have a lost and found basket in the studio near our exit door. If your dancer is missing something, dismissal is a good time to ask to see the basket.
*Ticket Reward System - This year dancers will earn tickets when they have perfect attendance for the month, have their hair in a bun for ballet or a ponytail for jazz/tap, are exceptionally kind or helpful, etc. A dancer can receive as many tickets as they earn - there is no limit. At the end of each month, 2 names will be drawn to win a prize. The winners’ names will be posted in the dance studio.

My Dance Page - September 2023
Welcome To All! We are going into our 22nd season at “My Dance Studio”! We are really excited and grateful that you are joining us either for the first time or as a returning dancer. We have a freshly painted building front, updated bulletin boards, and newly decorated teacher helper area. We are ready to dance!
*Welcome back to our teachers - Ms. Jillian, Ms. Sarah, Ms. Lily, Ms. Ally & Ms. Tracey!
*Take It or Leave It! Previously owned shoes & leotards will be available in the lobby during the month of September. After that time, they will be put inside the studio (but still available if you need them). Please take it if you need it and if you have something you don’t need, leave it. This is a great way to “pass along” items. Any shoes you try on, please return them to the appropriate bins to keep them organized for the next dancer.
*Skirt Week- The last week of class each month dancers are permitted to wear a skirt during ballet/pointe class. We have ballet skirts available if your dancer wants to borrow one. Any skirt that is borrowed is only worn by that dancer that month and washed for the next month. Again this year, any dancer in Ballet 3 or Ballet 4 may also wear a solid-colored leotard of her choice during skirt week.
*Advanced Beginner Classes- Parents, please have your dancer practice putting on and removing dance shoes at home. This will help your dancer feel more confident and allow class to run a little smoother with changing tap and ballet shoes. This is a new experience for them.
*Ticket Reward System - This year dancers will earn tickets when they have perfect attendance for the month, have their hair in a bun for ballet or low ponytail for jazz/tap, are exceptionally kind or helpful, etc. A dancer can receive as many tickets as they earn - there is no limit. At the end of each month, 2 names will be drawn to win a prize.
