This letter has a preview of dates & activities to come, and will cover the next 2 months. Your next newsletter will come out in March.

Thank you for your help in the “Giving-Tree Gift Bag Donations”!  We were able to provide gifts for senior friends at Fahrney-Keedy Assisted Living.  By working together, we spread a little holiday cheer to others. We appreciate your help and support.

Recital Date - We are waiting on confirmation for our “19th Annual Dance Recital”.  The goal is to have our recital sometime during the first two weeks in June.  Updates will follow as we get more information. In December, you received an email from us outlining the possibilities for this year’s recital.

Don’t forget…Costume fees must be received by January 16.  The cost is $65.00 for each costume.  Please make the costume fee to “My Dance Studio” and separate from any tuition payments.
Snow Day Policy – Please call the studio for a message for that particular day.  We will also send out an email blast.  All snow cancellations can be made up.  Just let us know and we can give you the best day & time to avoid overcrowding classes.

My Dance Page  November/December 2020
The holiday season rapidly approaches!  It can be a really busy time for all of us. Stop and take a moment for a breath of gratitude and joy.  We wish everyone a blessed holiday season filled with peace and love!

This newsletter has activities & events for 2 months. Don’t forget to come in and check the bulletin board/calendar periodically for updates and important information.  Also, “My Dance Page” along with other updates are posted on our website at:  www.mydancestudio1.com

Please send water with your dancer.  We are noticing that the dancers are thirstier because of the masks.  Be sure to label the water bottles with his/her name.

Also, remember to follow the Dress Code.   When we are prepared, we are confident. When we look the part, we dance the part!

When dropping off your dancer, please do not leave the parking lot until you see them move into the studio room after they have their temperature taken.

As we look ahead to colder weather – in the event of snow, there will be a voicemail update and email blast on that day, for that day 1 hour before your scheduled class time. The weather can change for the better or worse in a short period of time and we do try to avoid cancellations. We do not follow school closings.  Dance snow days can be made up.  Just give us a call to schedule so that classes don’t overbook.

-The studio will be closed November 23-28 for Thanksgiving Break.  Our “Season of Nutcracker” will begin on Monday, November 30.  This is a tradition at “My Dance Studio”.  The dancers have a great time as we learn about this holiday ballet classic utilizing videos & music, choreography & props and variations of the story.  All classes take on a seasonal flair for this festive time of year.

-Christmas Break will begin Wednesday, December 23 and run thru Saturday, January 2.  Classes will resume Monday, January 4.

The “Giving Tree” to help senior citizens at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community will be up after Thanksgiving Break. We do this instead of gifts for the teachers (please).  Here’s how it works – pick up a gift bag and return it with gifts chosen from the list which is posted by the “Angel Tree”.  Please write your name on a clipboard next to the number on your tag.  The gift bags need to be returned no later than Saturday, December 19 so that we can get them to the center on schedule.  Please help us to help others during this season of giving!

Looking ahead, we will be measuring for costumes during the month of December.  We know it seems early but we need to order in January to receive costumes in a timely fashion.  The cost for recital costumes is $65.00/costume.  We will accept any payments now thru January 16 to allow everyone the opportunity to plan & budget.  Please make this costume fee a separate check from tuition.  All costumes fees must be received no later than January 16.

If you have any questions, feel free to call/text/email.  We promise to get back to you as soon as possible.  Thanks to all and have a wonderful holiday season! Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2021!!

My Dance Page - October 2020

We are all settling into this fall season.  We’re set in our new classes and moving forward with our curriculum. Everyone is showing real enthusiasm and working very hard.

Here are a few reminders:

*Take One and Leave One- Leotards and shoes are still available; however they are no longer in the lobby.  If you need a leotard or shoes, please just ask!

*Ms. Lezlee-  We’re sure you remember last year we were planning a big “thank you” to Ms. Lezlee at recital.  Even though we were not able to carry that out, we did deliver all the beautiful cards the dancers thoughtfully created for her.  She’ll be busy reading them this month!

*Studio Updates-  Even though our new procedures prevent parents from getting into the studio much, we want to let you know there are new mirrors and barres for the girls to create more dancing space and keep us more distanced.  The studio has a fresh, new look!

*An Email Blast went out in September with “My Dance Page” attached. If you did not receive it, please let us know. We want to have everyone’s email address correct so you don’t miss out on anything!  Starting in November, the newsletter will be available primarily through email and our webpage.  However, if you’d still like a paper copy, we will keep a few in the lobby that you can grab.

*Dress Code (proper dress, shoes and hair) is a steadfast rule for all to follow and is part of the discipline of dance.  It makes a difference in the children’s attitude and as they see themselves in the mirror, we can see them become more confident and prepared to dance.

*Important Dates to mark on your calendar as we look ahead into the year.
Costume Fees - anytime beginning now and up until January 16 ($65/costume)
Recital Meeting – Wednesday, March 17
Recital Fees are due by March 20 ($65 per family to cover auditorium, programs, tickets, etc)

*T-shirt Time!  It’s time again to order our signature T’s for ‘20-‘21  Print out the form below and return it with payment no later than Saturday, October 17.  They are long sleeve forest green with inspirational saying on the front & dance logo on the back. This is a one-time offer and we do not order extras.

My Dance Page  - September 2020

Welcome To All!  We are going into our 19th season at “My Dance Studio”!  We are really excited and grateful that you are joining us either for the first time or as a returning dancer. We hope everyone had a great summer!  It’s time to get into the new routines of back to school, dance and all the other great activities that come with this time of year.
*We’d like to introduce 3 new teachers to the studio this year.
Miss Sarah - She works full time as a nursing assistant. However, she’s always had a passion for dance. She’s been dancing 12 years and spent a year as a trainee with the Joffrey Ballet School. Her training has included Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Street Jazz, and Hip-Hop. She’s been teaching for 5 years and she loves sharing her passion with students. Teaching dance is one of the most rewarding parts of her dance journey.  She looks forward to sharing her love of dance to the next generation of artists.
Miss Annie - She is 19 years old and attending Hagerstown Community College part-time.  She has danced for three years. She took ballet, hip-hop, acro, and modern.  Annie was also a gymnast for four years of her life and two years at the high school!  This year she will help teach acro.  She is super excited for this fun year!
Miss Maddie - Maddie a 19 year old college student at Shippensburg majoring in Social Work.  She danced for 15 years at A&B dance studio in Waynesboro. She began teaching dance by assisting a pre-pointe dance class for one year. She then continued for three more years teaching Jazz 1, Jazz 4, Hip hop 1 and a special needs class. Teaching dance is a fun and rewarding experience that she has enjoyed for a long time. She is excited to share her love for the art with her students here at My Dance Studio!
*Take It or Leave It!  Previously owned shoes & leotards will be available in the lobby during the month of September.  After that time, they will be put inside the studio (but still available if you need them).  Please take it if you need it and if you have something you don’t need, leave it.  This is a great way to “pass along” items.  Please keep social distancing in mind as you stop into the lobby to check out these items.  Once you find what you need, please don’t linger so other parents can safely access the bins as well.
*Planning Ahead - Studio will be closed tentatively on the following dates.
            *Thanksgiving Break               November 23–27
            *Christmas Holidays                December 23 – January 1
            *Spring Break                          March 26 - April 3
            *Memorial Day                        May 31
