January/February 2025

Happy New Year and Welcome Back
to Dance!  We hope everyone had a great holiday season!  As we look forward into 2025, we begin preparations for our “23rd Annual Dance Recital”! Costumes have been ordered and we will begin routines very soon. There is a lot to do and time will move quickly. This letter has a preview of dates & activities to come, and will cover the next 2 months. Your next newsletter will come out in March.  Please read all the newsletters carefully, so you are not surprised by events or due dates.  Paper copies of the newsletter are available in the lobby throughout the year if you miss the message in your email.

Thank you for your help in the “Giving Tree Donations”!  We were able to provide gifts for senior friends at Fahrney-Keedy.  By working together, we spread a little holiday cheer to others. Your consideration and care in this effort is always very touching.

Recital Date - Our “23nd Annual Dance Recital” will be on Friday, June 13, 2025.  Rehearsal nights will be June 11th and 12th.  Updates will follow as we get more information.  Please mark your calendars now.  Rehearsals are mandatory.

Snow Day Policy– Please call the studio for a message for that particular day one hour before your scheduled class.  We will also send out an email blast.  All snow cancellations can be made up.  Just let us know and we can give you the best day & time to avoid overcrowding classes.

Lost and Found- Please check our lost and found bin by the exit door if your dancer is missing something.  Just ask a teacher for the basket.  We will donate what is there at the end of January.

Water Bottles- Dancers are welcome to bring water to class in a securely closed water bottle.  ONLY WATER is permitted in the studio to protect our dance floor.

My Dance Page - November-December 2024
The holiday season rapidly approaches!  It can be a really busy time for all of us. Stop and take a moment for a breath of gratitude and joy. We wish everyone a blessed holiday season filled with peace and love!

This newsletter has activities & events for 2 months. Don’t forget to come in and check the bulletin board/calendar periodically for updates and important information. Also, “My Dance Page” along with other updates are posted on our website at:  www.mydancestudio1.com

-Remember to follow the Dress Code.   When we are prepared, we are confident. When we look the part, we dance the part!  Buns are required for Ballet 1 and levels beyond.  Thank you to the families who follow the policies.  We appreciate it!

-Please note the change to the dates for our Thanksgiving break - Monday Nov 25-30!

-Please be on time for picking your child up from dance class.  It is hard to start the next class when children are waiting to be picked up from the previous class.  Also, teachers need to be able to close up the studio for the day in a timely manner.  Starting in 2025, we will be charging a late fee for dancers who are not consistently picked up on time.   After a dancer is picked up late 3 times, the subsequent pickups that are 10 minutes late or longer will be charged a late fee.  This policy will be posted on the bulletin board soon.

-Nutcracker season begins in December. This is a tradition at “My Dance Studio”.  The dancers have a great time as we learn about this holiday ballet classic utilizing videos & music, choreography & props and variations of the story.  All classes take on a seasonal flair for this festive time of year.

-The “Giving Tree” to help senior citizens at Fahrney-Keedy Retirement & Assisted Living will be up after Thanksgiving Break. We do this instead of gifts for the teachers (please).  Here’s how it works – pick up a gift tag and bag from the tree in the lobby and return it with the item(s) written on the tag.  The gift bags need to be returned no later than Saturday, Dec 13th, so that we can get them to the center on time.  Please help us to help others during this season of giving!

-Looking ahead, we will be measuring for costumes during November and December.  We know it seems early, but we order in the middle of December to receive costumes in a timely fashion.  The cost for recital costumes is $70.00 per costume due by December 14th.  Remember if your dancer will need a costume for each class in which they participate.

-If you have any questions feel free to call/text/email us.  We will respond as quickly as possible.

My Dance Page October 2024As we begin a new month, we are moving forward with our dance curriculum and settling into our classes.  If you want to see our curriculum, it is available in the lobby in the red binder.   Also, everyone is showing real enthusiasm and working very hard.  Here are a few things to note:
*Dress Code (proper dress, shoes and hair) is a steadfast rule for all to follow and is part of the discipline of dance.  It makes a difference in the children’s attitude and as they see themselves in the mirror.  We can see them become more confident and prepared to dance.
*Dance Apparel-  Order forms will be available later this month.   You will need to complete the online order form and drop off the payment at the studio.
*Staying healthy-Please continue to be vigilant as we move into the cold/flu season.  Thank you to our families for being so careful about keeping dancers at home that may be contagious with a virus.
*Take It Leave It- Our bins with shoes and clothing are being moved from the lobby.  If you need something, just ask and we can get the bins back out for you.
*Lost and Found-  We have a lost and found basket in the studio near our exit door.  If your dancer is missing something, dismissal is a good time to ask to see the basket.
*Ticket Reward System - This year dancers will earn tickets when they have perfect attendance for the month, have their hair in a bun for ballet or a ponytail for jazz/tap, are exceptionally kind or helpful, etc.  A dancer can receive as many tickets as they earn - there is no limit.  At the end of each month, 2 names will be drawn to win a prize.  The winners’ names will be posted in the dance studio.

My Dance Page - September 2024
Welcome To All!  We are going into our 23nd season at “My Dance Studio”!  We are really excited & grateful that you are joining us either for the first time or as a returning dancer. Over the summer, the subfloor for our dance space was rebuilt.  We’re looking forward to dancing on it.
*Take It or Leave It!  Previously owned shoes & leotards will be available in the lobby during the month of September.  After that time, they will be put inside the studio (but still available if you need them).  Please take it if you need it and if you have something you don’t need, leave it.  This is a great way to “pass along” items.  Any shoes you try on, please return them to the appropriate bins to keep them organized for the next dancer.
*Discount Dance On-Line Store - If you prefer to buy brand new items, we have recommendations through Discount Dance.   There is a button on our website under “About Us” or here is the website: https://www.discountdance.com/search/teacherid:58450
*Skirt Week - The last week of class each month dancers are permitted to wear a skirt during ballet/pointe class.  We have ballet skirts available if your dancer wants to borrow one.   Again this year, any dancer in Ballet 3 or Ballet 4 may also wear a solid-colored leotard of her choice during skirt week.
*Advanced Beginner Classes - Please have your dancer practice putting on and removing dance shoes at home. This will help your dancer feel more confident and allow class to run a little smoother with changing tap and ballet shoes. This is a new experience for them.
*Ticket Reward System - Dancers will earn tickets when they have perfect attendance for the month, have their hair in a bun for ballet or a ponytail for jazz/tap, are exceptionally kind or helpful, etc.  A dancer can receive as many tickets as they earn - there is no limit.  At the end of each month, 2 names will be drawn to win a prize.
